PANEL UPGRADES Q&A
Straight answers before you call.
Can't find yours? Our full Q&A covers 60+ topics, or talk to a real person 24/7.
How long is the power off?
Four to eight hours on install day. We schedule the utility disconnect and reconnect for the same day.
Do I need 200 amps for an EV?
Not always. A load calculation decides. Many 150-amp homes can add a charger, and smart load managers avoid an upgrade in others.
Why are Federal Pacific panels dangerous?
Their breakers often fail to trip under a fault, which has caused fires. Most insurers want them replaced.
Will my insurance care?
Many carriers require replacing recalled panels, and some discount premiums for a new panel with surge protection.
