EV CHARGERS Q&A
Straight answers before you call.
Can't find yours? Our full Q&A covers 60+ topics, or talk to a real person 24/7.
How much does an EV charger install cost?
Most installs run $800 to $1,800 including permit, depending on distance from the panel. Panel upgrades are extra when needed.
Hardwired or outlet?
Hardwired allows 48-amp charging and is safer long-term. A 14-50 outlet is fine for 32-40 amps and is portable.
Which charger should I buy?
For most people: the one your car brand makes, or a ChargePoint or Emporia. We'll quote with or without the charger.
Are there rebates?
Xcel, CenterPoint, Oncor and CPS Energy all run charger or wiring rebates. We file the utility paperwork.
